In cross stitch, the count refers to the number of fabric squares per inch.
Lower count = fewer stitches per inch (larger stitches, bigger overall design)
Higher count = more stitches per inch (smaller stitches, smaller overall design)
All of our kits are based on the stitch count, so you will get the same level of detail whichever you choose but the overall finished piece will vary depending on the count chosen.
Things to keep in mind when choosing what stitch count you want
1. Overall size on completion - do you have space/money to frame it in 11 count.
2. Your eyesight - will you be able to see the stitches clearly on 18 count.

What is stamped cross stitch? | Stamped cross stitch is a type of embroidery where the design is pre-printed directly onto the fabric. Instead of counting stitches on a blank fabric, you simply match the printed symbols to the corresponding thread colours and stitch over the markings. |
How is stamped cross stitch different from counted cross stitch? | In stamped cross stitch, the pattern is printed on the fabric, making it easier to follow. In counted cross stitch, you start with a blank fabric and follow a chart, counting each stitch placement. Stamped cross stitch is great for beginners or those who prefer a more relaxing stitching experience. Because you don't need to go backwards and forwards between the chart and the fabric they're also a lot quicker to do than counted cross stitch. |
Will the printed design wash out? | Yes! The ink used to print the design is water-soluble and will wash away after stitching. We recommend hand-washing in cold water (without detergent) once you've finished your project. Avoid getting the fabric wet before completing your stitches. |
Do I need to use a hoop or frame? | PA hoop or frame is optional but recommended to keep the fabric taut while stitching. Our kits come with a larger border, making it easier to use a hoop or frame if desired. |
Can I wash my project before finishing? | No, avoid washing the fabric before stitching, as the printed symbols will disappear. The fabric is designed to be washed only after completion. If you do get water on your fabric causing the print to disappear then don't panic. We provide a printed chart as well which can be used for that section. |
