FAQ

📌 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – Stamped Cross Stitch Kits

1. What is stamped cross stitch?

Stamped cross stitch is a type of embroidery where the design is pre-printed directly onto the fabric. Instead of counting stitches on a blank fabric, you simply match the printed symbols to the corresponding thread colours and stitch over the markings.

2. How is stamped cross stitch different from counted cross stitch?

In stamped cross stitch, the pattern is printed on the fabric, making it easier to follow. In counted cross stitch, you start with a blank fabric and follow a chart, counting each stitch placement. Stamped cross stitch is great for beginners or those who prefer a more relaxing stitching experience. Because you don't need to go backwards and forwards between the chart and the fabric they're also a lot quicker to do than counted cross stitch.

3. Will the printed design wash out?

Yes! The ink used to print the design is water-soluble and will wash away after stitching. We recommend hand-washing in cold water (without detergent) once you've finished your project. Avoid getting the fabric wet before completing your stitches.

4. What comes in the kit?

Each kit includes:

✅ Licensed artwork – supporting original artists and ensuring stunning, exclusive designs

✅ High-quality pre-printed fabric with clear, water-soluble symbols and a larger border for easy framing

✅ Premium thread colours, pre-sorted for convenience

✅ Durable embroidery needles

✅ Easy-to-follow stitching instructions

✅ Paper pattern for reference should your fabric get wet

5. Do I need to use a hoop or frame?

A hoop or frame is optional but recommended to keep the fabric taut while stitching. Our kits come with a larger border, making it easier to use a hoop or frame if desired.

6. How many strands of thread should I use?

The following are recommendations and what the provided thread is based on:

11 count - 4 strands

14 count - 2 strands

16 count - 2 strands

18 count - 2 strands

7. Can I wash my project before finishing?

No, avoid washing the fabric before stitching, as the printed symbols will disappear. The fabric is designed to be washed only after completion. If you do get water on your fabric causing the print to disappear then don't panic. We provide a printed chart as well which can be used for that section.

8. How long does it take to finish a stamped cross stitch project?

This depends on the size of the design and your stitching speed. Since our kits are large-format and highly detailed, they are meant to be enjoyable, long-term projects. Many stitchers take several months to complete a kit, working at a relaxed pace.

9. Can I frame my finished project?

Yes! After washing and drying your completed piece, you can frame it just like a traditional embroidery or cross stitch project. We recommend pressing the fabric (on the back side, using a towel over it) before framing.

10. Where can I buy replacement thread if I run out?

Our kits come with plenty of thread, but if you need extra, you can contact us, and we’ll be happy to assist!

11. How long does delivery take?

Most kits are made to order and can take up to 3 weeks depending on how busy we are. We will notify you when your parcel is dispatched.

12. Will I be charged an import tax

We are based in Northern Ireland. This means that for UK and Europe there is no import tax. For International orders the import tax will be the same as it is for the UK.

 13. Why are you more expensive than Temu/AliExpress/Tapestry Market?

At The Stamped Stitch Club, every kit is designed for stitchers who expect more. That means we focus on premium details that make a real difference to your stitching experience:

  • Licensed artwork – Every design supports the original artist, and what you see is a true mock-up of the finished piece, not just a grid on an image.

  • Crystal-clear symbols – No need to squint or cross-reference a printed chart. Everything is designed to be intuitive and enjoyable.

  • Exceptional materials – 100% Egyptian cotton thread, high-quality fabric, and attention to detail in every component.

  • More colour, more depth – Our kits often include around 100 colours (some with blended threads!) for a richer, more detailed finish.

  • Size matters – Our kits are larger and made to be long-term projects you can really get lost in. More fabric, more detail, more to love.

We understand that our prices might be higher than some other brands, but that’s because we put so much more into every kit – and we believe you’re worth it.

14. Will you do smaller kits?

We will, this is something that we're looking into at the moment and hope to launch soon.
